At IBM, Dean Douglas' team is focused on providing a broad set of services
to both fixed line and wireless carriers. Key initiatives that Douglas and
his team have focused on include managing customer care for U.S.-based wireless
carriers, developing new network infrastructures to support wireless data
deployments, rapid product development platforms for carriers and developing
new and innovative WiFi strategies.
Before joining IBM, he spent seven years with Motorola in a number of roles that included global management of business development for Motorola's cellular infrastructure group. Before leaving Motorola, he was general manager of Invisix, a Cisco/Motorola joint venture created to exploit emerging wireless IP technology.
In his
eight-year involvement with the telecommunications industry, Douglas has played
a pivotal role in developing many of Motorola's wireless data and wireless
cellular initiatives. While based in London, he managed marketing and business
development for Motorola's cellular infrastructure group in
Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In this position, he helped drive adoption
of GPRS and UMTS through a series of marketing initiatives and new ventures
related to both infrastructure as well as enabling applications. Prior to
moving to Europe, Douglas managed Motorola's enterprise wireless data business
in the Americas.
