Turpin
Senior Vice President and Chief Scientist, Essex Corporation
Terry M. Turpin was elected a Director of the Company in January 1997. He
is Senior Vice President and Chief Scientist for the Company, positions he
has held since 1996. He joined Essex through merger with SEDC where he was
Vice President and Chief Scientist from September 1984 through June 1989.
Currently Mr. Turpin is the Chairman of the Industrial Advisory Board for
the Opto-electronic Computing Center at the University of Colorado. From December
1983 to September 1984 he was an independent consultant. From 1963 through
December 1983, Mr. Turpin was employed by the NSA. He was Chief of the Advanced
Processing Technologies Division for ten years. He holds patents for optical
computers and adaptive optical components. Mr. Turpin represented NSA on the
Tri-Service Optical Processing Committee organized by the Under Secretary
of Defense for Research and Engineering. He received a Bachelor of Science
degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Akron in 1966 and
a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Catholic University
in Washington, D.C. in 1970.
